2022.01.18 13:52 Vanamond3 Why do COVID testing sites force you to enter all your contact information and relevant medical history before letting you see their appointment times?

"Thanks for the 15 minutes you spent entering your name, age, race, gender, address, email, phone number, vaccination types and dates. Now would you like to book an appointment for March 3rd, 2025? No? Okay, but we'll just keep everything we know about you on file, for funsies." Bonus: how come everyone rejects my health insurance info except Rite Aid, even though their appointment waits are longest? Obviously my insurance is valid because Rite Aid accepted it and got paid last time. But the county and Walgreens think I'm trying to pull some scam on them.

2022.01.18 13:52 Beneficial-Fan-4780 Question about pixel art in GT

Hey Growtopians, I would like to make a pixel art world of an album cover that appears to be quite alot detailed.
The problem we get is downscaling it to 54x54 pixels or 54x100 pixels if i’d choose to use the entire world for it. (That way i’d look up a 1920x1080 picture of the album cover and scale it down. I will probably not do this). I’ve been on Photoshop trying to scale the album cover down to those sizes but as you could tell, the quality isn’t too good.
So now i’m asking you guys if yall know any better way of doing it or a better way of previewing it in order to have sort of a template to follow? I’d rather have a pixelated template to follow where i can already see how it’d look like before building it, if that makes sense.

2022.01.18 13:52 Justice-Gorsuch Top 5 Coaches in todays NFL - Long Post

Bored at work so I decided to write some research points about the top coaches in the league and see if there is anything they share in common as Miami starts to search for their QB.
For my list I ranked coaches as (you may rank them differently or have someone else, but I think my point holds true):

  1. Belichick
  2. Reid
  3. Harbaugh
  4. Tomlin
  5. Payton
  6. Belichick served in a series of defensive assistant roles, eventually rising to DC under Parcells for the Giants winning 2 SB’s with Phil Simms. He then goes to Cleveland for a rather lackluster stint as HC, trading Bernie Kosar in his last year.
Best QB he worked with prior to joining NE was Kosar who he traded. I’m not giving him much credit for Simms since BB was a defensive coach.
  1. Reid Started in the NFL as an OL coach, then an OL and TE coach, and eventually becoming the QB coach for the Packers working with Brett Farve. They won a SB together in 1996. He soon after gets hired to be the HC for the Eagles.
Best QB he worked with was Brett Farve who was a top tier QB of his generation.
  1. Harbaugh was primarily a special teams coach on Reid’s staff and then eventually got DB coaching responsibilities as well to bolster his resume. He goes to the Ravens as their new HC.
No experience with top tier QBs.
  1. Tomlin started as a DB coach in TB with Toby Dungy and was held over on Gruden’s staff. He was the DC for the Vikings for a single season before taking the Steelers job.
No experience with top QB’s
  1. Payton started his NFL coaching career as the QB coach in Philadelphia in 1997 coaching either Ty Detmer or Bobby Hoying. He then the QB coaching job for the Giants and was promoted to OC the following season where they reached the SB with Kerry Collins as their starting QB. After a few years he was demoted and was eventually hired by Parcells to be the QB coach for Dallas where he worked with a slew of average QB’s. He’s most remembered for his work lobbying the Cowboys to sign Tony Romo as an UDFA
No experience with top QB’s.
The biggest take away here is that besides Andy Reid, none of the top coaches in today’s NFL got their job by riding the coattails of a top tier QB. And it’s important to note in Reid’s case that he started as an OL coach which explains his natural instinct for designing new run blocking schemes.
If we try to hire a coach just because they’ve watched film with Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, or any of the other top QB’s we will probably be disappointed. Coaching is about details, and having a top flight QB covers up for missing too many of those.

2022.01.18 13:52 skeletonprince How do y’all deal with feeling lonely?

I’m 22 currently (as are my friends) but I’ve noticed that as most of them get into relationships, and I remain single, that I keep getting sidelined.
It sucks to know and love someone (even if platonically) for 9-10 years of your life just for them to push you away for someone else. But I’m also taking this as an opportunity to learn to love myself and heal from past trauma.
However, something I’m really struggling with is being alone. I hate it. I hate feeling lonely. And that’s cause I’ve noticed that if I’m not out with friends, I don’t go out at all.
But like I said, I just hate being alone. Any advice for this? Thanks in advance y’all!

2022.01.18 13:52 No-Rabbit-6507 Investing/general advice for good income/novice investor.

I am 38 years old, earning well, with what I believe to be a secure future. I am very much a novice to investing, but understand its importance. I am seeking advice on how to properly invest for retirement/to ensure my money is being properly allocated. I am not risk adverse at all, and have a strong stomach for ventures. This has served me well.
My stats:
Business income: $150,000 per year.
Equity in the business earned: Additional $100,000 per year towards loans/equity.
Salary: I take $52,000 a year (out of the $150,000 earned). I don't save much, most is invested in stocks, or personal (smaller) business/earning ventures.
Traditional IRA: Maxed out yearly, but started late (30 years old). Considering converting to Roth.
Personal investment accounts: $60,000-$100,000. Occasionally I liquidate to reinvest in the business.
Cash on hand: $10,000 personal, $40,000 business.
Personal assets: I own a home valued at $400,000, $250,000 left on the loan. I am in the process of buying a condo for $300,000. I break even on renting out the home (priced $500 or so below fair value, rent to an employee), plan to do the same with the condo. I am interested in owning the assets, not so concerned in making money monthly off them.
Personal expenses: I am frugal and not very materialistic. I rent a small place and have insignificant expenses. Most of my salary I put into the stock market. No kids/wife/girlfriend/family/close friends. Occasionally I go to lunch with employees.
Business equity: My company is somewhat of a franchise (for lack of a better description). It is worth around $1.5-$2 million (with regulacompetitive offers to buy out). I owe the banks around $500,000. My various loans are ending between 2-8 years from now. Ten years from now I will owe nothing towards the business (unless I continue to grow/reinvest, which I plan to).
It is a high demand industry and is economy safe. Typically a $60,000-$70,000 investment brings me an additional $20,000 a year salary/$20,000 a year towards equity/$200,000 total added worth to the business (ten years to maximize equity). These opportunities are available every few years, with a lot of competition, but I am well regarded in the industry and generally get first choice to buy or pass. So far I have never passed.
I am at a point where the business is mostly passive. I supervise a bit and help out, but am no longer full time. My employees are earning around $50,000-$60,000 a year, working 20-30 hours a week. They seem happy and are reliable.
I have been in the industry my entire working life. 15 years or so. I have reinvested everything earned to get to the point I am currently at. Several times I have invested every penny to my name. The last year or two I have found it paying off, with extra money finally coming in. This is why I am very interested in allocating things now.
I do enjoy working and keeping busy (as I don't know much else). I've had a few offers to continue working, until another hands on investment comes up. This would earn me an additional $1,000 a week or so. I also am very passionate about writing and hope to monetize that in a small way.
I would like advice on how to properly handle my money. Prepare for retirement. Additional steps I can be taking to secure my future, etc. I am not formally educated, but do my best to research things. I consider myself bright and driven and try very hard to keep my ego in check when it comes to things outside of my realm of experience (investing being one of them).
I feel that someone smarter than me would do amazing things with my position (and probably achieve a much higher net worth). I have considered going to school, but do not think the juice would be worth the squeeze at this point.
What would you do, where would you invest, what kind of potential will I have if the wind blows right a few times for me?
Any advice/criticism would be greatly appreciated.
